Tournesol wine estate is located in the Coombsville AVA of Napa Valley. Bob and Anne Arns have dreamed of owning a small vineyard estate since their wedding over 40 years ago. With a keen interest in wine and inspiration pulled from the infamous "Judgement of Paris," the Arns planted 15 acres of Bordeaux varietals on a gently sloping bench 300 feet above the valley floor. Tournesol vines enjoy perfect exposure to the sun with cool breezes from the San Francisco Bay providing an ideal growing climate. Nurtured by winemaker Ken Bernards since the first harvest in 2002, Tournesol continues to produce beautiful wines that express exotic personality and approachability. Ken is also the owner and winemaker of Carneros-based Ancien, a winery focused on the French artisanal tradition of in-barrel aging.
Two couples are invited to join the team at Tournesol for a VIP lunch, tour, and tasting before joining Ken and his team at Ancien for a tour and tasting of some of the region's finest wines.

The 2010 vintage of Roy Estate's Proprietary Red exhibits a strong, masculine minerality in its medium to full-body style with elevated tannins that will continue to evolve for the next two decades.
2013 is known as one of the best years for Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley and these wines are no exception. The 2013 Cardinale Cabernet Sauvignon aims for complexity with herb and savory underbrush flavors dominating the taut core of loamy earth and berry notes.
The 2013 La Jota Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain is a blend of all five Bordeaux varieties and is drinking beautifully. Opaque purple with notes of licorice, charcoal, lead-pencil shavings, black currants, and spice, the wine is full-bodied, opulent, lavishly rich and pure, with sweet tannin and a long finish. This wine is approachable now but promises to age beautifully for 20-25 years.
If you are looking for perfection in your wine, the 2013 Lokoya boasts a perfect 100-point score from Robert Parker. Thick purple in color with a stunning nose of lead pencil shavings, black currants, mulberries, and blackberries, the wine has a steely structure, yet enormous concentration, skyscraper-like mouth texture, and builds incrementally to a stunning finish of close to a minute. The purity, the richness, the overall equilibrium are unreal, but then this is Lokoya.
Rounding out our 2013 double magnums are bottles of Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon and Ornellaia L'Eleganza. Floral notes intermixed with blueberry and black raspberry fruit jump from a glass of Mt. Brave, while the Ornellaia is elegant yet complex with fruit forward style and tight tannins.
Uncork this bottle of 2014 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon for a softer wine with an upfront style. Deep ruby in color with notes of black and red currants, cedar, licorice, and forest create a wine with ripe, well-integrated tannins.
Last, but certainly not least, this lot includes a rare double magnum of the highly rated 2015 Marchesi Antinori Solaia. Taste the Tuscan sunshine beaming from within this 100-point wine. Vecina is coined from the Spanish word for neighbor. A nearby neighbor to Bill Harlan's Harlan Estate, the Vecina is another 11-acre vineyard sitting on the Mayacamas mountainsides with an east-facing exposition. This is pure, pebbly, alluvial soils over fractured bedrock. The 2014 Vecina does recall Harlan Estate in its masculine, earthy, highly structured, tannic, and big, spicy, rich style.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, IX Estate Red is distinguished by aromas of loamy, dusty earth folded in nicely with the rich chocolaty core of dark berry. The tannins muster strength without overwhelming, adding the right touch of texture and traction.

All Jarvis wines are produced from estate vineyards, located high above the city of Napa, in the beautifully rugged mountains between Mt. George and Milliken Canyon at the southeastern end of the Napa Valley. The vineyards are planted in gently sloping meadows one thousand feet above the valley floor. As the cool maritime air passes over the Carneros flats and begins flowing into the valley, it falls about seven degrees in temperature for the thousand feet of vertical rise. As such, the vineyards tend to be cooler by several degrees than the famous Carneros region. These cooler temperatures allow for a long "hang time," which permits a long, slow fruit maturation for maximum flavor and concentration at harvest.

Very deep inky-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is incredibly intense and impactful on the nose, revealing notes of crushed black cherries, blackberries and fresh black currants with underlying notions of charcoal, sauteed herbs, black soil, chargrilled meat, and pencil lead, plus a waft of violets. Very full-bodied, very rich and wonderfully concentrated, the wall of fruit is well matched by a firm structure of ripe, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with great length and depth.
Plush and delicious with an elegant, concentrated core of dark fruit flavors. The silky mid-palate texture is framed by lush, mouth coating tannin.
